AS9100 Requirements Course

This AS9100 requirements course will introduce you to the individual clauses and sub-clauses of the 9001 Aerospace Quality Management Standard. Working through every requirement, you will learn how to interpret and mitigate each one within an Aerospace Quality system. There is particular emphasis on the operational elements, and the lean towards risk based thinking that this new revision requires.

AS9100 or BS EN9100 is built on the basis of ISO9001. The International Aerospace Quality Group has appended the 9001 system with extra requirements specific to managing the specific risks in aerospace supply. During this course you will learn all about all of the requirements of 9001, and 9100.

Your tutor will guide you through the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle of inquiry which is the fundamental base of all modern quality management system. Informed  by your own experiences of manufacturing or service provision, your tutor will help you to understand what is expected in order to satisfy the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry.

This course will help you to understand your own processes, products and services in context of the 9100 standard. Explaining the expectation of each clause.

It will help both the quality and the operational professional whilst preparing to install a 9100 Aerospace Quality Management System. It will also help new entrants to, an existing 9100 accredited business, understand the specific requirements of your aerospace quality management system.

Personally, you will be able to demonstrate that you have in depth knowledge of the requirements of the aerospace supply chain.

What you will study

Develop an in-depth knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality management systems (AQMS).

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to define the:

  • Importance and benefits of a 9100:2016 AQMS
  • History of 9100:2016, the role of IAQG and the standards that support the programme
  • Relationship between 9100, ISO 9001:2015 and the Annex SL framework
  • Terms and definitions of 9100
  • Key concepts of 9100 (including aerospace process effectiveness)
  • Requirements of 9100

Teaching support

Our tutors are highly experienced aerospace practitioners. They all hold graduate degrees, and are IAQG qualified Auditors. These qualifications are to 9100 Revision D.

Your tutor should be able to answer any relevant questions about the course. They will also be able to comment on best practice, and what is happening in the industry. However, they are there to teach you, and they aren’t allowed to consult on complex problems during the teaching days. This is simply because it absorbs too much time, and can jeopardise finishing the course.

This course is assessed through activities, and engagement with the course material. There is no pass and fail, but if you want to get the most out of the course you will need to engage with the material, activities, and group work.

There is a certificate issued at the end of the course to prove that the course has been attended.

Entry requirements

This is a technical course and so it is very important that your english is not only good conversationally, but also that you can interpret and understand the technical elements of the course.

This requirements course is our entry level 9100 course, and as such there are no prerequisites.

Preparatory work

If you have access to a copy, review the standard clauses of 9100.

Think about what it would mean for your business to install and maintain an Aerospace Quality Management System. If you organisation is already accredited to either 9100, or 9001. Review your own management system.

Consider what your senior leadership will need to do to support the implementation of the AQMS.

Study materials

All of our delegates are supplied with a copy of the course material, along with the tutors notes.

A loan copy of the standard will be supplied and this must be returned to your tutor at the end of the course.

Computing requirements

There are no requirements for any of our delegates to need access to a computer during this course.

In fact we prefer you not to bring laptops, or tablets into the class room. This helps to focus both your tutor and your delegates on the materials.

There are plenty of opportunities to check telephone messages, and emails during the days. Such as coffee breaks and at the start of break out sessions. We just ask that you be respectful to the tutor and the other delegates.

Things to bring with you

Our tutors will supply all that you need, including materials, pens, and notebooks.

Some people prefer to bring their own pens and notebooks. This is fine.

In some cases we may ask you to provide whiteboards, presentation equipment and flip charts. However, we will arrange this before hand, and we can provide anything necessary to make the course go smoothly.

Course registration

Our courses are mainly delivered on-site as this gives far more relevance to your organisation, and allows more appropriate discussion about the course material in your own context.
